We get it now. And by it, we mean the appeal of defiantly progressive black-metal acts like Nachtmystium. While their records sound like a hazy descent into Blake Judd’s own personal hell (self-titled likes to listen to Instinct: Decay when we’re closing an issue and in kill everyone mode), the Chicago band’s live show can come off as a brutalized version of Black Flag and crusty punk rock. Especially when they’re opening a show and given 30 minutes to blow through their blustery back catalog, as Nachtmystium was at Thursday’s Opeth concert. Some shots as we survived the damage …
