The Artist/Album: Autechre, EPS 1991 – 2002 (Warp, April 11)
The Details: Available now as a digital bundle on iTunes and Bleep, or as a deluxe CD package in mid-April, EPS 1991 – 2002 is exactly that–a daunting collection of Autechre rarities that spread 12 EPs over five distinct discs. Lest you still think that Autechre made nothing but “IDM” in their first decade, this nearly six-hour set proves just how important strains of electro, hip-hop, and ambient/acid/hardcore techno have always been to the Manchester duo. There’s even a pair of Peel sessions for those of us who’ve never seen one of Autechre’s rare live sets.
