While we have to be in a certain mood–read: jacked on liters of mainlined Mountain Dew–to appreciate Dan Deacon’s music at home, there’s no denying the way his live sets flood your serotonin levels. Case in point: the pawn shop auteur’s headlining set at the Insound/Oh My Rockness day party on Thursday. Not content with sticking to his usual wall-breaking routine–chopping up samples and hyper-speed hooks right on the ground–Deacon also demanded a dance-off between pogoing fans and asked one of South by Southwest’s longtime booking agents to lead everyone in a synchronized dance routine.
