Back when self-titled was a lil musically ignorant pip-squeak, a friend let us borrow two records. One called Extra Width and another called Now I Got Worry. Listening to the music of the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion was an eye-opener (and a brain-expander). It was filthy, sloppy and noisy, a bit dangerous and totally slutty and undeniably cool. Tonight, the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion performs for free at the South Street Seaport (with openers the Teenagers), and to celebrate, we found a notorious live clip of the band making a TV appearance, complete with theremin wailing and set destruction. Check it out.
