The first taste of Ben Frost’s new album takes its time slipping under your skin—about four minutes, to be exact—then obliterates its bed of worker bees, tubular bells and paper thin beats with a manic counter melody and sudden volume spike that makes the composer’s intentions abundantly clear. And that is to keep things uncomfortable, even when the disquieting proceedings are teetering on the edge of being downright beautiful.
‘A U R O R A’ is due out May 27th through Mute/Bedroom Community.
