Here’s one surprise Record Store Day release you can buy without leaving your home or hitting up eBay: A Letter Home (available now through Third Man), the “retro-tech” solo album from Neil Young, featuring straight-to-vinyl acoustic covers of Bob Dylan, Bert Jansch, Willie Nelson and more.
In an interview with Rolling Stone earlier this week, Young said the effort was tracked in a 1947 Voice-O-Graph booth owned by co-producer Jack White. “It’s an amazing time capsule,” he explained. “From nothing, to nowhere… It’s a good piece, a real nice piece. I look forward to people getting it, especially in light of what I’m doing now. It’s coming out pretty soon.”
