Cold Cave have unveiled their first round of new material since last fall’s The Idea of Love 7”, a surprisingly content single called “Glory.” Well surprising until you consider the happy couple (frontman Wesley Eisold and keyboardist Amy Lee) at its core, and the only baby photos on Instagram that don’t make us want to bash the closest unfollow button.
“It is a bit of a departure from [The Idea of Love],” the band wrote on its website, “a glossy track featuring sparkly synths and woeful vocals in Cold Cave’s signature chilly croon. The video, directed by Amy Lee, epitomizes cool with a minimal aesthetic and an artistic integrity that holds true. ‘Glory’ is a hint at what is to come from Cold Cave in the near future.”
Further evidence can be found on the road this fall, as Cold Cave hits the road with a full band rounded out by Nils Blue, Ryan McMahon, and Heartworm co-founder Max G. Morton. Compare/contrast….
