Amp Live has released a free EP of Why? remixes called One Dark Eskimo. Aside from a guest appearance by the producer’s Zion I mate Zumbi (“Against You”), most of the collection steeps Why?’s pitch-dark pop songs in a sea of skittish beats and stutter-step samples. While the project isn’t as high profile as Amp Live’s Rainydayz take on Radiohead’s In Rainbows album, it’s still a killer reminder of Yoni Wolf’s abstract hip-hop roots. Not to mention an excuse to dig out Eskimo Snow, easily one of last year’s most sorely-overlooked LPs.
