Brian Eno has revealed a special box set of new, rare, and previously unreleased recordings from his many visual art projects. Due out May 4th through UMC, Music For Installations covers Eno’s entire career, from a Venice installation that premiered in 1985 to a collection of current material aptly titled Music For Future Installations.
“If you think of music as a moving, changing form,” Eno explained in a press release, “and painting as a still form, what I’m trying to do is make very still music and paintings that move. I’m trying to find in both of those forms, the space in between the traditional concept of music and the traditional concept of painting.”
Music For Installations will be available in three formats designed by Eno and his longtime collaborator Nick Robertson: a 6-CD super deluxe limited edition numbered box set, including a 64-page book with a Plexiglass cover and download card; a 6-CD standard edition box set with a 64-page book; and a 9-LP super deluxe edition vinyl box set with a 64-page book and download card. Check out the complete rundown below, and if you’re in the UK, be sure to look out for Eno’s special appearance at The British Library on March 23rd….
