Considering how often new underground dance parties spring up in New York—hell, we’re even hosting one soon—it takes something truly special to transcend the usual solid-way-to-spend-your-Saturday-night. This week’s inaugural YYYNYC event is on track to do just that however, by bringing Ivan Smagghe, Jokers of the Scene and Lil Internet together under the banner of “a single throbbing thread, connecting the great nights of the past with the best nights of the future.” Which essentially means numerous figures from the city’s fashion, music and art world are trying to channel the Paradise Garages and Danceterias of decades long gone. A noble goal certainly, and one we’ve be waiting to see someone meet for quite some time.
