Last month, James Blake launched his BBC Radio 1 residency with a two-hour block of loosely mixed records and material from his 1-800-Dinosaur crew. Highlights included a handful of edits from Blake’s Harmonimix alias, appearances by Airhead and Trim, and a Burial ‘interview’ that shows what a standup comedian Blake is underneath all that emoting. The whole thing’s actually quite amusing, from the pitch-shifted modem that sets the episode off to the way Blake takes the piss out of his own new track, “40455.”
