The Artist/Album: The Future Sound of London, Lifeforms (Astralwerks, 1994)
Our Review: While the cover art for this 19-year-old album is clearly dated–recovering warehouse ravers will know exactly what we’re talking about–the music within is not. It’s actually as timeless as the other records that are more often referred to as lynchpins of electronica (your Blue Lines, your Dig Your Own Hole). With more than 90 minutes of ambient-leaning experimental music spread over two LPs and many shifting moods, this is wallpaper music after you’ve taken a couple brown tabs.
