The Artist/Album: Thread Pulls, New Thoughts (Osaka, 2010)
The Vibe: It figures that we found out about this Dublin duo the same day Prinzhorn Dance School announced their second album. Like those DFA-endorsed minimalists, Thread Pulls ride an airtight rhythm section right through one locked groove after another, peppering their skeletal dance-rock pieces with dashes of brass and keys. Special thanks to Other Music‘s staff picks wall for tipping us off to this one. It hasn’t left our turntable all night…
