Now that her first song in two years has been premiered on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show, Grimes has shared the stuttering synths and head-seeking hooks of “Go”—a collaboration with her old friend Blood Diamonds—via Soundcloud.
“It’s our summer jam so we figured we should put it out,” Claire Boucher wrote in a press release, “cuz I am very bored of waiting to finish my album b4 releasing new music haha.”
The track wasn’t scrapped from the cutting room floor, though; it loses the pitch-shifting effects of past Grimes material for full-on vocal acrobatics that make the singer/producer’s love of pop and R&B artists like Mariah Carey much more explicit.
