While Heather Gabel is best known for her bold artwork, the singer’s been touring and recording with percussionist Seth Sher as part of their HIDE project since 2014. In case you’re unfamiliar, the industrial duo has released several EPs and short films in the lead-up to their debut LP, Castration Anxiety. Due out March 23rd through Dais, the effort finds HIDE “in a disruptive personal state. Churning electronics stepping up to anthem–styled synth melodies, disrupted sparingly by incantations of Gabel’s experiences about identity and obsession, blurring those themes into prophetic feedback.”
In other words, it’s no wonder why Marilyn Manson tapped the group for his Pale Emperor tour, an honor that’s been echoed by ADULT. for another trek next month. As for HIDE’s own release party, that’s set to happen on March 23rd at Chicago’s storied Empty Bottle venue, with support from Lilac, Forced Into Femininity, and DJ HOGG. In the meantime, here’s the first official video from Castration Anxiety—a tense collaboration with fellow visual artists Nedda Afsari (a.k.a. Muted Fawn) and Kristin Cofer—along with some thoughts from the band’s fearsome frontwoman….
