We cut the following mix while working on a tightly edited tape for Jay-Z’s Life + Times blog. Aside from a couple stuttering cuts–that’s what happens when you try to blend tracks with a laptop–it’s a long look at the rabbit hole that was our hard drive during the height of the Napster era. Meaning: lots of “backpack rap,” rounded out by such random selections as Bran Van 3000, a ravishing Dan the Automator remix of Stereolab, and a psych-pop paean to Berlin.
