One of our favorite art exhibits from 2013 had to be Milk Gallery’s sprawling spread of private press LPs last summer, a wall-mounted extension of the coffee table book Enjoy the Experience: Homemade Recrords 1958-1992 and its corresponding Now Again compilation of “psych, funk, folk, jazz, lounge, disco, boogie and just-plain-weirdness.” The gallery’s treasure trove of albums made for an audience of one demanded one thing, though: a proper DJ mix to make sense of it all. And now we’ve got one, via Beat Junkies founder and underground hip-hop icon—the guy’s DJ’d for Dilla, Madlib and Black Star—J. Rocc, whose Enjoyed the Experience megamix distills all that madness down to a two-sided vinyl set that’s “perfect for cocktail parties, barbecues, aerobics, and other activities that make America the greatest nation on earth.”
One for the crate diggers then, and if you grab it direct from Sinecure Books right now, your order will include a bonus private press record without all those beats and breaks.
