As the world continues to wait for the first new D’Angelo album in more than a decade, Light in the Attic has decided to step in and release a long overdue reissue of the singer’s classic Voodoo LP. Shipping the week before Christmas and available for pre-order here, the limited first pressing includes two 180g LPs, a 5”x5” photo, expanded artwork and new liner notes featuring interviews with ?uestlove, Pino Palladino, Charlie Hunter, James Poyser, Alan Leeds, and Russ Elevado.
As the label put it in a press release, “The concept behind Voodoo was simple. Put together a brilliant ensemble of R&B musicians bent on grooving together. Record them live, in real-time, jamming face-to-face in an effort to capture their conviviality and chemistry. For Voodoo‘s core rhythm trio, D’Angelo recruited his friend and colleague, The Roots’ visionary drummer Ahmir “?uestlove†Thompson, plus Welsh journeyman Pino Palladino to hold down the bass. It was a combination that gelled immediately.”
