The restless ways of Hans-Joachim Roedelius (see also: Harmonia and the many incarnations of Cluster) continue later this month on his latest record for Bureau B, Selected Studies Vol. 1. Due out February 22nd, it’s the Kraut-rock icon’s first collaboration with Lloyd Cole, although it does more than simply marry the frontman’s singer-songwriter fare to Roedelius’ space-age synths. In fact, Cole leaves his guitar and vocal lines out entirely, choosing to compose full-on electronic music along the lines of his own Plastic Wood LP from 2001, an instrumental affair so in step with Roedelius’ past work that he remixed the entire record without even being asked to.
Now, more than 10 years later, we’ve got songs like this…
1. Pastoral
2. Selbsportrait-Reich
3. Wandelbar
4. Still Life with Kannyu
5. TangoLargo
6. Orschel
7. HIQS
8. Fehmarn F/O
9. Virginie L
10. Lullerby
