Anthony Gonzalez continues to keep himself busy with film score work outside M83. This one’s a little more arty than a CGI-enhanced Tom Cruise flick, however; as revealed in the trailer below, You and the Night is very “French,” a recent Cannes entry Variety called “a psychosexual ‘No Exit’ for the MTV generation.” The magazine also went on to say this: “what little emotion the pic manages to stir results almost entirely from the entrancing electronic score by M83.”
So if the following plot line doesn’t pull you in—”around midnight a young couple and their maid prepare for an orgy; their guests will be The Slut, The Star, The Stud and The Teen”—you might want to at least look out for the You and the Night score when it drops digitally on November 19th. (A physical release is expected early next year.)
“The soundtrack pays tribute to French soundtracks from the ’70s and is much more intimate than Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming and the Oblivion soundtrack,” Gonzalez explained in a press release. “This score is really for lovers and ghosts”…
