The Artist/Album: The Dismemberment Plan, Change (DeSoto, 2001)
A Short Review: As much as we love Barsuk’s recent (long overdue) repressing of Emergency & I, the Dismemberment Plan’s final LP is a must-listen as well. Rightfully declared a “night album” by frontman Travis Morrison, it swiftly veers from the midnight drive mania of songs like “Secret Curse” to the icy introspection of tracks like “Time Bomb.” Essential stuff through and through, although we could do without the Dieselboy rhythms of “The Other Side.”
