Owen Pallett Recruits Brian Eno, Czech Orchestra For New ‘In Conflict’ Album

Owen Pallett announced his fourth album today, a self-produced effort that rounds his core rhythm section (drummer Robbie Gordon and bassist Matt Smith) out with such welcome guests as Brian Eno (on synth, guitar and vocals!) and the Czech FILMharmonic Orchestra. Due out May 13th through Domino, In Conflict puts a unique spin on familiar love song fare, exploring the deeper—and at times, darker—issues at play in many relationships.

“The record is meant to approach ‘insanity’ in a positive way,” explains Pallett. “Depression, addiction, gender trouble, and the creative state are presented as positive, lovable, empathetic ways of being. Not preferable, per se, but all as equal, valid positions that we experience, which make us human.”

Check out the record’s trailer, cover art and complete tracklisting below, and be sure to root for Pallett on March 2nd, the day the part-time composer is up for a Best Original Score Academy Award alongside his Her collaborator and longtime friends Arcade Fire…
