As you’re about to see, our first round of Pitchfork Music Festival photos is Trash Talk-heavy. That’s because the day was dominated by decent-but-by-no-means-revelatory indie rock, the kind of cuts that steady one’s pulse rather than quickening it. And that includes Björk, who continued to let her recent run of Science Channel records dominate a set list that was merely dotted with ‘the hits’ (“Joga,” “Hunter,” “Army of Me”). Beyond that, even the best songs felt like they were hovering in the humid air with little heft thanks to live arrangements that were much more minimal and chorus-driven than her hi-def records.
We’d have photos of her elaborate stage setup if Björk didn’t implore photographers and the crowd to put their cameras away for the entire set, so as to avoid distracting her utter Björk-ness…
