A long, smoke-clogged shadow is cast across Turkish Leather, the second album from Ritual Howls and their first for the rising LA label felte. But rather than get caught up in one manner of feeling moody, they switch things up considerably on every song, from the creaking minor chords and screw-tightening samples of “The Taste of You” to the galloping demi-gloss of “Zemmoa.”
The album’s third single (premiering below, right alongside the other two) is more of a meditative affair—diving into a downcast drone John Cale would appreciate, then marching towards a blood moon with its Middle Eastern melodies on blast.
