While RYAT morphed into a duo last year, it’s been the ever-evolving project of multi-instrumentalist/singer Christina Ryat for a while now, from live improv performances to studio collaborations with such diverse artists as King Britt (“The Intricate Beauty”) and recent Flying Lotus signing Taylor McFerrin.
As for what RYAT sounds like these days, their Avant Gold album was originally released last fall and will be reissued this month, with a companion collection of remixes out April 12. The following premiere pairs a beat-splicing pop tune (“The Fish That Lived Out of Water”) with White Rainbow’s woozy remix.
