Public Memory Shares The Sight Below Remix, Announces New Album

As 2016 winds down, we’d like to shine a light on one of the year’s many sorely overlooked LPs: Wuthering Drum, the solo debut of former Apse/ERAAS member Robert Toher. Released earlier this year on Felte, it’s a fever dream two steps away from becoming a nightmare. And since the entire affair is driven by steam-pressed synths and staticky beats, Toher has tapped a host of like-minded folks—including Tempers, .thejass., Birds of Prey, and Rémy Charrier—to reshape its songs on a remix album early next year.

Rafael Anton Irisarri’s The Sight Below alias serves up its lead single below, a spring-loaded, vapor-trailed version of “Lunar.” Irisarri says he’s currently wrapping the first Sight Below record since 2008’s It All Falls Apart LP. Not to mention a host of other projects at his New York studio Black Knoll. In the meantime, Irisarri has tacked a couple new tunes onto a benefit EP for the victims of Oakland’s Ghost Ship fire. You can stream it and a few other songs from both artists below, and help the Bay Area’s YouCaring campaign reach its goal with additional donations here.
