Considering Hieroglyphic Being, Sarathy Korwar, and Shabaka Hutchings cut more than 150 minutes of pure improv for NTS last year, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the free-everything trio’s edited sessions are flawless. Freshly pressed on Ninja Tune’s Technicolour imprint, the A.R.E. Project EP won’t exactly be confused with A.R.E. Weapons. It’s the “Association For Research & Enlightenment”, after all—ecstatic noise expressed via fractured electronics, propulsive sax parts, and skittish percussion. Heady stuff indeed.

Now if only we could hear the whole thing….
