As the vice president of Issue Project Room, Jeremy Hurewitz helps program one of Brooklyn’s most adventurous venues, a non-profit known for supporting such boundless musicians as William Basinski, Tony Conrad, and Grouper. He also toys with ambient guitar loops, spoken word samples and lean synth lines in Rootless, a solo outlet of his jazz trio focused on “processing and interpreting the past.”
With that in mind, it’s no surprise Hurewitz bookended his new self-titled album with remixes from Ben Vida, Brendon Anderegg (of Mountains), and Mark McGuire. The Emeralds co-founder can be heard shredding his way across the cascading keyboards of “Buildings On Fire” in the #selftitledpremiere (directed by Dan Bowhers) above.
