As expected, what with their series of “Electrical Transmission” teasers over the past couple weeks, Neurosis have announced their first new album in five years. Due out October 30th through the band’s own Neurot Recordings imprint, Honor Found in Decay is described as “both torturous and transcendent. It is the ongoing exposition of a vast internal dialogue that seems to carry the weight of eons.”
Heavy, then, and if it’s anything like Given to the Rising, absolutely essential. In semi-related news, vocalist/guitarist Scott Kelly will release his latest solo record through Neurot tomorrow. Dubbed The Forgiven Ghost in Me, it’s yet another spare acoustic effort–one that falls right in line with his recent contributions to the Songs of Townes Van Zandt tribute album, which was rounded out by Kelly’s bandmates in Neurosis (Steve Von Till, who we interviewed here) and Shrinebuilder (Scott ‘Wino’ Weinrich).
