While much has been made of the collegiate (California’s Institute of the Arts) and creative (records that reach as far back at 1999’s Underground LP) connections of Ariel Pink and John Maus, the latter’s live shows aren’t campy so much as cathartic, karaoke-driven pieces of performance art. Case in point: last night’s sold-out Glasslands show, which was edited down to a tidy eight-minute collage below alongside video/MP3 renditions of Maus’ new “Believer” single.
