One of the details that was lost in the recent press coverage around Mexican Summmer’s fifth anniversary was the coffee table book that’d follow the label’s two-day festival. Set to hit drop on December 9th, Mexican Summer: Five Years pairs a 256-page tome of “unique and unseen art and ephemera, photos and written contributions from a host of Mexican Summer artists” with a 10” record of previously unreleased material from Bay Of Pigs (Spiritualized, Soldiers of Fortune, and Neil Hagerty) Jorge Elbrose (Jorge Elbrecht and Ariel Pink), Quilt and Bobb Trimble, and The Lonely Sailor and Renée Mendoza Haran (featuring members of Total Control, Lace Curtain and Ashrae Fax).
Not to mention the following one-off collaboration between Autre Ne Veut and Christian Fennesz, a feedback-engulfed ballad that’s the result of a loose two-day session at Fennesz’s Vienna studio.
