“It feels like a really stripped down version of everything I’ve done before.,” Martyn said in a Thump interview this week, referring to his new The Air Between Words album. “All the music, in my mind, is quite simple. It has really strong melodies and basslines, but there’s really not much fat to it. It’s a very lean album. I guess that just makes it a natural album too. I’m happy with what I’ve done because it’s taken a long way to get here. The only thing I’m worried about is the next album now.”
