Considering all of the energy he’s spent supporting underground scenes like footwork and juke on his Planet Mu imprint, it’s not surprising to hear some of their hallmark sounds–the tightly wound loops, the restless rhythms–sneak into Mike Paradinas’ first µ-Ziq album in six years. But here’s the important thing: it still sounds like a Paradinas record, through and through, enough that we could see it playing right after fellow reluctant IDM icon Aphex Twin in a twitchy DJ set.
