As we first reported last week, Richie Hawtin recently converted last fall’s Guggenheim performance into his first Plastikman album in more than a decade. Well it’s now available digitally, and streaming in full via the player above. We could do without its hokey cover art—for some reason, it reminds us of the time someone tried to relaunch the Godzilla franchise with a Diddy song—and corny song titles (true to its EX title, everything starts that way: “EXposed,” “EXtend,” “EXpand”), but the music itself maintains the Plastikman legacy quite nicely. Does this mean the minimal/acid-techno revival is in full swing once again?
