To help set the scene, the record opens with the trash compactor textures and shrieking synths of “Streaker,” a single that implores us to “ride motherfucker, ride” while Beck’s former keyboardist (session musician Brian LeBarton, who’s also played with Jamie Lidell, Feist and Nikki Costa) wails in the background under the name Notrabel. Seriously nasty stuff, made all the more compelling by the fact that the producer finds this to be his form of ‘meditation music’…
