Tombs have revealed the lead single from their third full-length record: the gear-shifting, groove-riding “Edge of Darkness.” Due out June 10th through Relapse, Savage Gold was produced by underground metal mainstay Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal, Morbid Angel) and while it certainly sounds like it—the band’s black-metal foundation is still charred beyond recognition—followers of frontman Mike Hill’s popular podcast series will be able to spot his myriad influences working their way into the fray as well.
Definitely one for all you Deafheaven converts, although the color scheme here isn’t sunny. It’s as monochromatic as a midnight movie…
