[FACT] As tepid as the tagline (“Love Will Lead You Home”) is for the film poster of How I Love Now’s looming Kevin McDonald adaption, the topics it tackles are actually quite dark. Based on Meg Rosoff’s award-winning young adult book, it tells the story of a New York teenager who’s sent to live with her cousins in the English countryside for the summer, only to be torn apart from her family by what’s essentially World War III.
Hints of incest, terrorism and dwindling natural resources creep into the plot as well, making it not exactly the most uplifting love story of the year and the perfect setting for “Garden’s Heart,” a collaboration between Jon Hopkins and Bat For Lashes.
