So here’s the thing about Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich’s recent ‘DJ tour’ if you haven’t heard already–it wasn’t a DJ tour at all. More like a Flea-free fusion of fractured electronics, restless rhythms and tractor-beamed hooks. In fact, the duo’s richly woven renditions of Atoms For Peace and Yorke’s own solo album (The Eraser) felt more full of life than the original recordings themselves, a groove-locked give and take between two musicians who can literally finish one another’s sonic sentences by now. These guys should basically cut a straight-to-tape ‘remix’ of Amok in an afternoon and release it for free as a mixtape; it’d be better than the album itself.
