The Twilight Sad have never been the most ‘subtle’ of bands, and yet they somehow managed to show a considerable amount of restraint while performing with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra a few months ago. As shown in the video above (and available for download here), their richly woven version of “The Wrong Car” actually lets the song breathe, with the trio’s two dominant elements—the soul-spewing vocals of James Graham and the grandiose guitars of Andy MacFarlane—letting strings and brass elements swoop in to bring a full-blooded bent to their minor-keyed melodies.
