The third single from White Hex’s upcoming Gold Nights album maintains the same moonlit mood as the Melbourne duo’s 2012 EP (Heat) but expands their palette to include such admitted influences as Arthur Russell, Craig Leon and Whitehouse. That doesn’t mean “Sisters” is a post-punk single pelted with sheets of feedback and fuzz; it’s steelier than a surgeon’s operating table, driven by galloping rhythm guitars, steam-pressed synths and the dark-but-not-too-detached melodies of singer Tara Green.
